Diagonally parked in a parallel universe

We apologise for this temporary break in transmission.  Illness, a new sewing machine, and various secret projects revolving around world domination have pulled me sideways for the past few weeks.  Oh and…  we had to wash our hair.

Spend some time daydreaming…

Read a book or two…

And discover our love of all things tartan…

Day Thirty Eight – No more work today

Amelia staged a sit in today, literally!  She sat on my computer and told me in no uncertain terms that it was time to stop work.  She said she had a pretty new dress that she wanted to show me so I grabbed my iPhone and off we went!

The light was a bit yuk today but perfect for my iPhone so we went out into the garden for some hipstamatic fun.

And here is the pretty new dress Amelia staged her stop work sit in for.

Day Thirty Seven – Darkly Beautiful

Darkly beautiful - a portrait

It’s official.  Amelia is my new muse. Today we had new eyes and a new wig to try on.  Our girl loves playing dress ups, and I have to say I am loving this new look!

All snugged up in her newly knitted blanket.

Day Thirty Six Part deux – A Wander Through the Garden

I have a feeling that Ms Amelia may need her own blog soon!

On our wander through the garden Amelia discovered a wonderful little darling that appeared to have lost its way. It took quite a bit of coaxing and gentling to persuade her out from under that redcap.

It would seem that our Amelia has a stubborn streak! Once she had decided her foundling was to become the newest addition to our family, there was absolutely no moving her.

Love at first sight. Well, I know how that goes so who am I to stand between a girl and her unicorn?

Day Thirty Six – Introducing Amelia

She arrived last Wednesday.  The most beautiful lump of resin I have ever laid eyes on :)  We christened her Amelia and I have been taking photos of her every day since – almost to the exclusion of everything else which for the moment is just fine and dandy!

The light was fading as I opened my special package, so we had to work quickly to grab a few snaps to commemorate her arrival. Amelia was understandably a little shy to start with.

She soon got into the swing of things though "I'm ready for my closeup now..."

Time to get dressed and wigged up.

And as dusk started to steal the day away we captured what I think is my favourite of our first photoshoot.

Day Thirty Three – because Pete poked me… ouch Pete! ;)

So I have to start by stating that I have not been lax on taking photos lately, I’ve just been lax on processing and posting them.  Hmmm…. I’m sensing a bit of a pattern here!

The good news is, this project has done exactly what I had hoped it would do, boosted my creativity and gotten me out there shooting with a purpose again.  Here’s a sampling of what I have been up to….

Coming soon… the new addition and my current favourite photography subject…

Day Eighteen – Bird on a wire

Sometimes the simple things in life are the best. Whilst outside today throwing the ball for my spotty furbaby, and scratching the belly of my fluffy furbaby, I snapped these blackbirds holding an in depth conference on the power lines outside our house.  I’m not sure what was on the agenda for this particular meeting, but I imagine the current locations of the best worms may have been a hot topic.

As always, the chairman of the board gets the primo seat.

Days Nine to Seventeen – Sabbatical Part Two

As promised, here are some more catch up pics from the last week whilst I have been having a little break from everything computer-y.

Five: Lake Llewelyn, Tasmania

Lake Llewelyn

Lake Llewelyn receives some IR magic treatment.

Six: And then you sense a change

A beautiful sunny day turned wonderfully moody thanks to Hipstamatic.

Seven: Sunburst

Sunburst

I just adore the sunburst captured in this IR. Shooting into the sun can have some wonderful results.

Eight: Sand Abstract

Intricate sand patterns are always a treat to find and capture.

Days Nine to Seventeen – Sabbatical Part One

Go on, admit it.  You thought I’d given up already didn’t you?  It’s quite ok… with my track record of not finishing things I certainly wouldn’t blame you however… I’m simply taking a holiday from work.  And being as my work revolves entirely around my computer, for a holiday to actually be a holiday I have to close my laptop.  I have managed to do that (mostly) and instead have been doing fun things such as sleeping in, reading magazines, sitting in the sunshine and most importantly for this write anyways, taking photos – every day :)

Maths time.  Last post was day nine.  Today is day seventeen.  That would mean I owe my Circadian Project eight images.  I think I can manage that… I may not get the order right, but photos I can do!  Enjoy part one :)

One: All your dreams are strange

Rediscovering the magic of IR, the day was a little windy for what I wanted to do, but you know the best thing about being in the middle of your holidays? There is always the promise of tomorrow :)

Two: Magic Hut

I have absolutely no doubt that on a moonlit night, should you put on your softest slippers and sneak up quietly you will find all manner of elves, fairies and their magical ilk kicking up their heels.

Three: Sunset over the beaches

The best thing about my beach is that she wears a different frock every time I visit her.

Four: A cheeky spotty tail ahem, tale.  Intoducing my furbaby Miss Jasmine.

As you can see by the last image in this series, she really does know how to smile for the camera. I'm sure she just enjoys messing with my head.

Day Nine – Instamagilicious

I inherited my first polaroid camera many years ago when my stepdads mum passed away.  Sadly, I didn’t fully realise the magic of polaroid until it was very nearly too late.  What started as an experiment using peel apart film, wanting to regain that gratifying feeling of what-you-shoot-is-what-you-get, has turned into a deep abiding passion for the instamagilious-ness that is the world of instant film.
